Government

Public identity requires public accountability.

We help public institutions reason about national identity infrastructure, service integration and trust across agency boundaries.

UrbanID is an independent engineering and advisory organisation; it does not exercise government authority.

National identity programmes are long-lived public infrastructure. Their design must account for law, institutional mandates, service delivery, inclusion, privacy, security, procurement and sustained operations. Our advisory work connects those decisions to the interfaces, trust boundaries and operating model that delivery teams must implement.

Illustrative national architecture

The identity authority retains responsibility for authoritative records and policy. A sovereign integration layer mediates authorised exchanges; services receive only the claims their purpose allows. The placement and legal basis are determined by the jurisdiction.

  • Civil registration interoperabilityGoverned exchanges between civil registration, national identity and service-delivery systems, with explicit stewardship and data minimisation.
  • Government verification servicesPurpose-bound verification, relying-party integration, consent and audit controls for public-sector and regulated services.
  • National-scale credential ecosystemsIssuance, wallet, trust, identity proofing and cross-agency operating models for mobile and digital credentials.
  • Digital travel credentialsTechnical architecture for DTC, eMRTD, mobile document and border interoperability profiles, subject to State policy and ICAO guidance.
  • Programme assuranceIndependent review of architecture, procurement, security, interoperability evidence and operational readiness.
  • Mandates firstAuthority, purpose and accountability must be defined before system access is granted.
  • Data restraintUse only the attributes and linkages required for the authorised service.
  • Operational ownershipEvery control, trust source and incident process needs a named accountable operator.
